Looking for Rickenbacker DW16/DW8 Parts
Hi, all. returning to the boards after a little hiatus. I have a Rick DW16 that my father passed down to me. He loved playing it so much. It Is in really good condition and plays beautifully, but a couple parts missing. I can't 100% identify what year it was made because the s/n was stamped on wood and is pretty much worn away. I think it's maybe 1956-ish from other pics I have seen. It was missing the tuner pan covers, which I recently found one (plain aluminum). Looking for the 2nd. And someone before my Dad got it thought it would be cool to remove the metal Rickenbacker logo plate (probably hanging in someones studio) and I have had zero success in finding one. Any suggestions? I realize there's not many of these being parted out but I would like to bring it back to it's former glory. Appreciate any help.

That's a beauty, Edwin! Hope you find the parts to complete the restoration. And then sell it to me!

Thanks, Joe. I don't think anyone in my family has any interest in it, so, who knows?

The early versions of the DW16 did not have a logo plate. Instead the logo was silk screened, was a decal or otherwise painted on the front. I couldn't tell for sure on mine, but it was easily rubbed off. Do you see any evidence of this? Might be very faint and you have to look closely.

Thanks, Tim, I have seen picures of models with the logos you described. This one definitely had a metal badge. I can see the 2 little screw marks where the original badge was attached on the front side.Tim Whitlock wrote: 5 Feb 2026 8:53 am The early versions of the DW16 did not have a logo plate. If it makes you feel better, when I got my "dream" steel guitar (Magnatone D8) I was a little saddened to note the metal Magnatone nameplate was off...I've long since given up hope of finding one (there's rare, and there's THAT rare), so I feel your frustration on that. Although the last thing I would want is for someone to part a whole one out to provide parts (which is something people have done...more common with Fenders). At least they still sound and play the same, with or without the logo!
Very pretty Ric!
