Standel-Style standalone germanium preamp

Post by Jonah Leatherman »

Introducing the world’s first Standel-style standalone germanium preamp! This prototype features the period-correct PNP topology of the original design from the early 1960s; I designed this to be a copy of my 1965 Standel Studio XV preamp, with just a few of my own tweaks. It’s ideal for pedal steel and I’ve gotta say it sounds darn indistinguishable from the real one running it into a Quilter TB202 or Nashville 400!
Vintage tone meets modern power 😎 be sure to check the next slides for sound demos. I also have a short a/b comparison of my ‘65 Studio on YouTube!
Also be sure to check out @standelamps for the real-deal tube combos. Owen is a great guy and builds a fine amplifier!

below is a youtube link to four video sound clips and a short a/b comparison of my 65 studio
